Revised Jan. 4, 2010 How long will these meats store?
Canned Meat Recipes
NOTE: Someone, or some thing, is interfering with our Shopping Cart. It's being slowed to a point where it's almost unusable. If you're unable to place an order online, please either email us with your phone number, or call us with your number (or your order), so we can call you back. [My gut feeling is that the Feds are interfering with our business as they try to shut down alternative, survival businesses.]
Please include name of product, Product Codes, item weight and price when ordering by mail or fax. Thanks.
Note to Newsletter Subscribers: We recently discovered that the cart only gives you the discount for a single case of meat. We will give you the discount manually for any additional cases you
order.
Canned Bacon is now in stock!

We've got 'em! The genuine articles. Real canned meats that will store 5-7 years or longer. (The manufacturer guarantees them for 5 years.) They're in stock and ready to ship or pick up. (A delicious addition to your galley for that blue water sailing adventure!)
Be prepared for the coming food shortage.

These aren't the minced, jellied mush that comes in the little cans of meat by-product you find in your supermarket. They're generous chunks of beef, chicken and pork they're 28 ounces of real, ground beef (hamburger) cooked in the can, in their own juices. (Continues after the pricing, below....)

Canned Meat Recipes
Did you know? When a can of meat reads "with Broth" (for example, Beef with Broth) that means WATER has been added to the can. It's a way for a company to save money by giving you less meat! It's a lower quality product.
Our canned meats are packed into cans raw, the can is sealed and the meat is then cooked in the can. The liquid in our cans is the natural juices that are cooked out of the meat. That's quality product!
MUST READ! Why Some of Our Cans Are "Clickers"
Small cans of meats (particularly beef, which is a stiffer meat and more difficult to pack in the smaller can) may have "clickable ends" of the can. You can press the end of the can in and hear a "click".
This is due to air pockets in the can, NOT due to spoilage or botulism! Because the cannery doesn't add WATER to the can, which other companies add to fill air spaces (and which lowers the quality of their products), these air pockets expand when the cans are in warmer air, causing the cans to be "clickable."
If you have any canned product in which the ends are bulged and cannot be "clicked" in, then you have a product that is spoiled and must not be eaten. This is NOT what's happening with our "clickers"!
These meats are cooked IN THE SEALED CAN and ANY harmful bacteria is killed during this cooking. In 11 years of canning meats, NO ONE has been harmed by our USDA Inspected cannery (which also carries liability insurance).
If you don't believe this, or can't accept it, please DON'T order the 14.5 oz canned beef, ground beef or pork. We will NOT replace "clickers" nor refund your purchase price.
Try some of these Canned Meats at a discount in dented cans, when available.
Use Per Can pricing for custom mixed cases. 13 cans to a case (14 cans, if adding Canned Cheese or Canned Butter).

(the story continues....) We did our homework before we decided to carry these products. We discovered that most companies that sell canned meats sell them in #10 cans weighing 6 pounds each. That's great if you're throwing a neighborhood block party, have 15 in your family, run a restaurant or a soup kitchen, but not very practical for the average family.
Then, we found (by actual taste test) that most meat-canning companies add a little too much salt to their meat. Not a disgusting amount, but it was noticeable . . . and I'm a salt-aholic.
(One of our copycat competitors sells meats that contain 25% FAT!)
See, unlike many food distributors, we try what we sell before we sign on with a company. If it can pass my easygoing scrutiny (would eat grass clippings if they had my favorite Italian dressing on them . . .) and pass Phyllis' tough-to-please pallet (excellent cook and former restaurant manager . . .), then we figure you'll like them. We don't sell stuff just to make money. (Oh, by the way, don't let Phyllis read this. She'll turn
it around on me. Our secret, O.K.?)
Taste is a personal thing, and there may be items that I like and you don't, but we really do strive to find quality foods and other products for you. We're REALLY impressed with these meats! Our first experience was with the Boneless Pork Loin. When Phyllis opened the can, she uttered a little shriek and said, "This is a REAL chunk of meat!" That sounded promising! I continued watching the (non)news while she heated the loin
in the
oven, smothered in sauerkraut (umm, umh!). (These meats are precooked and only need to be heated or fried/broiled, etc. So you save energy with them, and, in a pinch, they could be eaten right out of the can like an MRE.) Canned Meat Recipes

I cut through the extraordinarily tender piece of loin with my fork and bit in, expecting the typical saltiness. Wasn't there. Tasted just like grocery-store-meat-department meat. Maybe better. Wow! I got excited. Started working on an order (in my mind) right then. (Yeah, I tuned out all those critical health, sports, chit-chat, non-news stories . . .)
Next evening we tried the canned Hamburger Meat. Phyllis opened the can and exclaimed, "It looks like dog food!" "Oh, God!" I groaned, "What have I done?!" I raced into the kitchen and stared dumbly into a can of what (for sure) had to be dog food. (I started revising that order-in-my-mind . . .). As she spooned globs of "hamburger-meat-dog-food" into the hot, frying pan she called, "Come back and
smell this!" I thought, "Great. I've always wondered what fried dog food smelled like . . . ." Phyllis said, "It smells like roast beef!" By then, enough had cooked—and she had "crumbled" it in the pan—that it looked exactly like ground beef and DID smell like roast beef (Thank you, Lord!). I grabbed a spoon and tasted a chunk. It was delicious! (I reinstated Hamburger in the order . . .) Phyllis tried a bite
and said excitedly, "What else do they put in cans??"

The Hamburger Meat can says on it "To remove contents heat can in hot water." We didn't find it necessary to do that, but what we did find is that there were a couple of "slices" of solid, white-colored fat in the can. We just threw them away. Had we heated the can, they would have melted back into the Hamburger Meat and probably made it taste even better. Also, the meat would have come out in a solid roll, making it very easy
to slice hamburger patties to your desired thickness. There was hardly any shrinkage of the ground beef like we always get from grocery-store-bought ground beef. No fat to drain off.
We munched through the rest of the sample meats that we ordered. We're impressed with each and every one. The Boneless Chicken with Broth is outstanding (try simmering it with rice!). But, here's another factor that we appreciate: The cans contain 28 oz (1 3/4 lbs) of product. It's the perfect size for a family of 3-4 with little or no waste or leftover. You're not faced with 4+ pounds of uneaten meat.
We'll custom mix cases for you (use Per Can pricing). A case of these products contains 12 cans. If you want, you may order a sample case ($92.00) and try each product, as we did, before you lay in a large supply. Also, if you'd like to sample our exciting Bega Cheese in a can along with the meats, we'll substitute 2 cans of cheese for a can of the meats for just a smidgen more. This canned cheese is another product you've got to try!
There is a downside. These products are not dehydrated, so they cost a bit more to ship. The average case shipping weight is 28 lbs. Shipping is around $23.00 per case (48 states) with fuel prices what they are.
The Shopping Cart will figure it for you as long as your order is under 200 lbs. We'll adjust shipping cost to actual and let you know what it is before we charge your card.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We have a competitor who sells cheap meats. The reason? The canned meats he sells have 25% fat content. Ours are LEAN meats! (which--with less fat--will store longer.)
A note to our repeat customers: Our meat cannery that featured Pork Loin, Sausages and Chicken and Dumplings has gone out-of-business. These products are not currently available. Our mixed cases now consist of 2 or 3 cans each of Beef, Chicken, Pork, Turkey and Hamburger. You may still add Canned Cheese and or Canned Butter or Canned Bacon to a mixed case order.
We also now offer a sample case of small cans, 1 ea Meats, Butter and Cheese for only $34.00 ($44.00 with Canned Bacon) + shipping. Please see our Shopping Cart.
